Maryland health officials confirm five new measles cases, urge vaccination checks

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — The Maryland Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that five new cases of measles have been identified in Central Maryland residents who recently traveled together to a U.S. location experiencing an active measles outbreak.

The department said the five cases bring Maryland’s total number of confirmed measles cases in 2026 to nine. The state reported three cases in 2025, one in 2024 and one in 2023.

Health officials are urging anyone who visited the following location during the listed timeframe to monitor for symptoms and review their vaccination status:

  • Carroll Hospital Center Emergency Department Waiting Room
  • 200 Memorial Ave., Westminster, MD 21157
  • July 13, 2026
  • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
