FUGITIVE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUSPECT CAPTURED IN MARYLAND

Sheriff Brian Hess announces the arrest of Selvin Martinez Quim, 34, of Southeast, NY on felony domestic violence charges following a weeks-long, multi-state investigation conducted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The investigation began during the early morning hours of June 14, 2026, when deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident in the Town of Southeast. Deputies located the victim after she fled to a nearby gas station with visible injuries. When deputies attempted to take Martinez Quim into custody at the residence, he jumped from a window and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Despite an extensive search by responding deputies, he was able to evade capture.

The investigation was then turned over to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Through extensive investigative work, BCI investigators developed information indicating Martinez Quim had fled to Maryland. Working with the Montgomery County Police Department, the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC), and the United States Marshals Service, investigators tracked Martinez Quim’s whereabouts, leading to his arrest in Maryland on July 16, 2026. On July 30, 2026, members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation traveled to Maryland, took custody of Martinez Quim, and transported him back to Putnam County…
