Petersburg Police say a Northern Virginia man who walked away from Bon Secours Southside Medical Center amid a mental crisis two weeks ago has been found safe.
In a statement Aug. 28, police said Aaron Javier Cruz, 21, of Fairfax County, had been located and “is in police custody.” The statement did not give any details about how or where Cruz was found.
Cruz, a student at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., disappeared Aug. 14 when he was taken to the hospital from his home in Fairfax. On that day, he was originally brought to a private hospital that neighbors SMC and was taken to Southside a few hours later when a bed in its mental-health unit became available…
