Montgomery County Police Assistant Chief Nicholas Augustine has been named the next chief of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police following an extensive recruitment process.
Augustine, a law enforcement executive with more than 25 years of experience, will begin leading the department Oct. 2. He succeeds Colonel Joseph Scott, who retired earlier this summer after 26 years of service.
Augustine joined the Montgomery County Police Department in 2002 after previously serving as an officer with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police.
