MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Traffic was backed up for more than two miles on Interstate 495 Saturday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed, leading to a fuel spill in Montgomery County, according to officials.
Details are limited; however, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) shared in a post on X that the incident happened in the inner loop of the Capital Beltway between Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road. This is near Sligo Creek.
Piringer said that during the crash, a tractor-trailer jackknifed and fuel spilled on the interstate.
