Virginia Mom Dies After Rollover Crash With Child In Car: Police, Family

A 39-year-old Prince William County mother who works with special needs children died two days after the rollover crash with her son in the vehicle, according to police and social media reports.

Demeteria Yvette Lee was heading east on Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge in a 2013 Nissan Juke when she lost control and left the roadway around 8:25 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, Prince William County police said.

Lee’s vehicle, which was also carrying a 7-year-old child, overturned onto the roof. Lee was removed from the car by good Samaritans who provided aid until fire and rescue personnel arrived, police said.

She was taken to an area hospital where she died on Jan. 24, of injuries suffered in the crash, police said.

Lee was wearing a seatbelt, and the child in the vehicle was also properly restrained, police said. The child was not injured.

Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the collision, police said.

Lee’s Facebook profile shows she worked with students who had autism in the Prince William County School District. Daily Voice has reached out to the district for comment.
