Police arrest man in Loudoun County for fentanyl distribution

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man was arrested Friday morning for distributing fentanyl around Northern Virginia after several months of investigations.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) conducted an arrest and search warrant and took Austin Shin, 24, into custody outside his residence.

LCSO found and seized thousands of fentanyl pills, a gun, ammunition, more than $6,000 in U.S. currency and 10.2 ounces of marijuana.

Shin was also arrested in 2022 in Alexandria and was found with about 1,000 fentanyl pills and a gun. He was on probation for those charges when he was arrested Friday.

LCSO charged Shin with the following:

  • Three counts of distribution of fentanyl
  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute
  • Three counts of distribution of narcotics on or near school property
  • One count of possession, manufacturing and distribution of weapon of terrorism (Fentanyl)
  • One count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • One count of possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics
