An extra dollar went a long way for a group of friends in Virginia who claimed a six-figure Lottery prize a month after their fortuitous Powerball play.
When the jackpot rises, Anthony Pego and a group of 10 other friends have made it a habit to pool their money together and share the fun as they chase a potentially life-altering amount of money.
Well, the Leesburg resident didn’t win it all, but he and his friends are jubilant after claiming a $200,000 prize after matching the first four numbers on the Dec. 30 drawing, as well as the Powerball.
Typically, that win would have net the group a paltry $50,000 prize, but when the Loudoun County resident bought the tickets online, he opted to spend the extra dollar on the game’s “Power Play” which quadrupled their prize to a whopping $200,000.
The winning numbers for Pego’s lucky drawing were 10 – 11 – 26 – 27 – 34 and a Powerball of 07 .
The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are estimated at 1 in 292.2 million, though the overall odds of purchasing a winning ticket are 1 in 25.
