PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) arrested a man for shooting his dog to death.
PWCPD officers responded to a shots fired call around 9 a.m. on Jan. 30 near the Verde Pl. and Piedmont Vista Dr. area. Through investigating, it turned out that John Ogle, 70, who made the report, was later identified as the accused.

Ogle had fired his gun into the ground near a wooded area and when officers arrived, they determined that Ogle was trying to euthanize his 16-year-old dog.
Ogle shot his dog until the dog died, according to PWCPD.
Animal Control officers removed the dog from the area and Ogle was arrested.
He was charged with felony cruelty to animals, shooting in a public place and improper disposal of a companion animal.
