Police: Manassas man resisted arrest, hit officer with stolen magazine

MANASSAS, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man who was intoxicated was arrested after he resisted arrest and hit a police officer with a stolen magazine.

The Prince William County Police Department said on Feb. 7, around 11 a.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Falls Grove Dr. for a report of a man who was intoxicated.

There, officers found the man, Gustavo Rosales, 24, who was determined to be intoxicated. Rosales gave officers false identifying information before trying to run away from them. He was quickly detained but continued to resist arrest, refusing to listen to the officer’s commands.

Rosales then stole a magazine from a nearby stand and began to hit the officer, causing him to fall on the ground and hit his head. Additional police officers came to the scene and took Rosales into custody without any more incidents.

That officer and Rosales were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
