Electrical fire breaks out at DARCARS dealership in Silver Spring, leaves $20K in damages

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Several crews were on the scene after an electrical fire sparked at the DARCARS dealership in Silver Spring early Tuesday morning.

In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said that at around 4 a.m. on Nov 12, firefighters were called to the 12200 block of Cherry Hill Road, near Prosperity Drive, for a fire at a commercial building. This is where the DARCARS Lexus and Toyota dealerships are located.

Once on the scene, Piringer said crews discovered an electrical fire in the services department on the second floor.

The fire was extinguished and there were no reported injuries.

Officials said their investigation determined that the fire started in the service bay and was likely caused by a computer electronic component mounted on the wall.

The fire caused about $20,000 in damages.
