GAITHERSBURG, Md. ( DC New Now ) — Police are investigating after a man died in the hospital nearly two weeks after he was hit by a car in Rockville.
The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said the crash occurred just before 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 30.
Investigators learned that a man was trying to cross Viers Mill Road from the median when he was struck by a black Lexus GS.

Medics were called to the intersection and the man was taken to the hospital. Police said he died from his injuries on Nov. 11.
The man was identified as 28-year-old Luis Rios Chirinos of Gaithersburg.
The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the investigation.
MCPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or with more details to call 240-773-6620.
