Boyce, Virginia — A red fox from Loudoun County has tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), marking the first confirmed mammal case of the virus in Virginia, according to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR).
The adult female fox was admitted to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center on March 31 after being found in Hamilton, Virginia.
