Rockville Resident Charged with Series of Burglaries in Bethesda, Arrest Following Community Tips

A series of burglaries in Bethesda led Montgomery County Department of Police detectives, aided by tips from vigilant citizens, to arrest a local man. Gabriel Oscar Shandler, a 34-year-old Rockville resident, is now facing charges for his alleged involvement in incidents dating back to April of last year.

The case picked up pace swiftly after the police department released a photo and details of the suspect to the public. According to a statement from the Montgomery County Department of Police, it took only an hour for Crime Solvers to begin to receive what would amount to multiple decisive tips. “Within one hour of the release, Crime Solvers received three separate tips identifying Shandler as the suspect,” the department announced.

Shandler’s supposed spree began with a stolen bottle of liquor from a County Liquor Store on Hampden Lane on April 17, 2024. Later, on October 6, he allegedly returned to the scene, this time employing a rock to forcefully gain entry and burglarize the establishment.
