77-year-old woman dies in multi-vehicle crash on I-495 in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A Silver Spring woman died in the hospital after multiple vehicles collided on Interstate 495 in Montgomery County on Wednesday morning.

Maryland State Police (MSP) said that just before 11:30 a.m., troopers were called to the outer loop of I-495 near Old Georgetown Road for a crash involving five vehicles, including a tow truck.

Their preliminary investigation revealed that the truck allegedly failed to control its speed and slammed into the back of a Honda Civic, police said. The truck then swerved off the road, before driving back onto the highway, hitting a Ford Ranger, according to MSP.
