BALTIMORE (WBFF) — New data shows Maryland collected a record amount of revenue from tolls in 2024 both on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and at the Harbor Tunnel. Indications are that this money will be used to help finance the state’s new safety plan for the Bay Bridge.
On a Friday edition of FOX45 Morning News Megan Gilliland spoke with Jeremy Portnoy, an investigative journalist from OpenTheBooks.com, about the revenue stream. Portnoy says the state has more than $550 million over the past decade between the two tolls combined.
“Last year the [Harbor Tunnel] made almost $108 million dollars, that’s the most ever,” Portnoy said. “The bridge earned $57 million. That’s the most since they lowered the toll back in 2015.”…
