MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — As Rich Leotta looked out into the crowd of police officers joining Montgomery County’s summer impaired driving crackdown initiative, he could not help but see his son’s legacy carry on.
His son, Noah, was an officer with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) when he was making a traffic stop as part of a similar task force just weeks before Christmas 2015. During that stop, he was hit and killed by a drunk driver.
“This coming December, it’s 10 years since we lost my son to an impaired driver, when he was doing the exact same thing these officers are going to be doing,” Leotta told 7News. “They’re out there protecting us, trying to save lives. But with that effort comes a big risk.”…
