Saturated ground contributes to downed tree that cuts Northern Virginia home in half

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (7News) — For hours on Thursday, Northern Woods Tree Service experts carefully removed sections of a massive hardwood. The toppled tree crushed the Falls Church home of Doug Stewart.

“This root ball is probably 30,000 pounds. The tree was probably 75,000 pounds,” said Northern Woods Tree Service Arborist Duane Manko.
