Local residents are expressing concern about the “trash police” coming to area neighborhoods as the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors considers a plan to implement “Unified Sanitation Districts” that would have county officials manage contracts with refuse companies rather than having residents and homeowners associations do it directly themselves.
If approved, the plan would be implemented over a five-year period. The Board of Supervisors will meet on June 24 at 4:30 p.m. to discuss Unified Sanitation Districts.
In a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity said that many local residents have contacted him and are concerned about the plan.
