PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Maryland State Police trooper was hospitalized early Saturday after a Tesla hit his cruiser while he was sitting inside of it on Interstate 495, officials said.
Troopers responded to the reported trooper-involved crash in the area of inner loop I-495 at Greenbelt Road at around 2:45 a.m. There, they learned that a trooper was sitting inside his patrol cruiser when a gray Tesla struck the back of his vehicle, according to MSP.

At the time of the collision, the trooper was investigating a separate crash and all of his cruiser’s emergency lights were flashing. Responders took him to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment, but he has since been released.
Medics also took the driver of the Tesla, who investigators believe may have been impaired, to the hospital for treatment, police said. MSP did not specify the severity of their injuries.
