LEWES — Last September, areas from Cape Henlopen State Park to Chincoteague, Virginia, were forced to restrict access to beaches, due to a large amount of medical waste washing ashore.
After nearly a year and several dozen agencies investigating the source of the waste, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has confirmed that they have not figured out who or what is responsible.
“DNREC was one of more than 60 agencies from across five states involved last summer working to track down the source of medical waste that washed ashore along the mid-Atlantic coast,” said Michael Globetti, media relations manager for the agency. “To date, no responsible party has been identified.”…
