Veterans, public officials, community members and family gathered at the Ashby Ponds gated community in Ashburn yesterday to recognize the military service of retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Donald Hansen.
The decorated veteran served in Vietnam with the 1st infantry Division and went on to become the Assistant Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army in 1985. The general’s career took him from inspecting tunnels in Vietnam to the highest levels of military justice.
Two non-profit organizations, the Chariots of Honor and the Sons of the American Revolution, helped put on the event and presented Hansen with accolades, including a citizen’s medal, a Wounded Warrior coin and a Chariots of Honor Challenge coin.
