UPDATED – 7/14/25 – Ocean City Fire Department’s Fire Boat 1 was called just before 4pm for a boater who was struck in the head by a pontoon boat propeller in the North Sinepuxent Bay speed zone. Good Samaritans had pulled the injured man from the water and began first aid when the Fire Boat, which had been training in the area, arrived and transferred him to the fire boat for advanced life-saving measures. Natural Resources Police and Coast Guard officials were also on the scene.
Trooper 4 was called and the injured man was taken to the Coast Guard Station in Ocean City to wait for Trooper 4. Fire officials report the injuries to the boater are serious. The patient was flown to the Trauma Center by Maryland State Police helicopter.
