FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — One detective with the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is being recognized for her outstanding work leading a multi-state investigation into a child exploitation ring.
On July 16, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund announced that Detective Claudia Castro was named the National Officer of the Month for June 2025.
Castro was selected for her relentless work during the investigation that was brought forth by a child who was being solicited by a person online for sex.
The case began in March and resulted in arrests and the execution of multiple search warrants. Officials noted that the ring ran between Virginia and New York, and several victims were found across the United States.
