Hiker Airlifted from Trail After Medical Emergency in Extreme Heat

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) and U.S. Park Police responded to a medical emergency on Billy Goat Trail around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, when temperatures were near 90 degrees.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, crews located a patient in a remote area and determined a hoist extraction was needed. The patient, in serious (Priority 2) condition, was packaged by MCFRS personnel and airlifted by U.S. Park Police helicopter.
