MOUNT AIRY, Md. (WBFF) — The community of Mount Airy is grappling with the tragic loss of 13-year-old Mason Kearns, who was swept away by floodwaters during heavy rain on Thursday. Family members have identified the boy, although police have not released his name.
Mason’s grandfather, George Kearns, visited the Watersville Apartments on Friday, where Mason lived with his mother and where the tragedy happened. “My son lost his son. And it’s totally devastated me and all of us,” George Kearns said.
Reflecting on the incident, Kearns expressed his disbelief. “I come here today to, to see where this horrific incident happened. How it could have possibly happened…and try to understand it, just try to wrap my head around it,” he said…
