Woman caught with 59 pounds of marijuana at Dulles International Airport, officers say

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Las Vegas woman bound for Germany was caught with dozens of pounds of marijuana in her luggage at Dulles International Airport (IAD) over the weekend, airport officials detailed.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted 59 pounds of marijuana on Aug. 3, after discovering it in the baggage of a traveler destined for Germany. Officers said they found numerous vacuum-sealed packages inside two suitcases being loaded onto the Frankfurt-bound flight.

The marijuana had a value of about $240,000 in the U.S. CBP noted that, depending on the potency, the shipment could have fetched two to three times more in Europe.
