Parents Could Face Charges as Juvenile E-Bike Accidents Increase

According to Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 2nd District Commander Amy Daum, there has been a concerning rise in juveniles riding electric mini dirt bikes in urban areas, particularly at night, leading to multiple collisions and safety risks.

He urged parents to discuss safe e-bike use with their children, noting that Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16, and parents can face charges under Maryland law for allowing underage or unsafe operation.
