The Loudoun County School Board on Tuesday night voted to refuse to comply with the requirements imposed by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights in its July 25 finding that the division is in violation of Title IX.
Following an hour-and-a-half closed session on Aug. 12, Vice Chair Anne Donohue (At Large) made a motion to direct LCPS legal counsel to respond to the Department of Education by saying, “while LCPS would be open to further discussion with the Office for Civil Rights, LCPS is unable to agree to the terms of the proposed resolution agreement at this time.”
The motion was seconded by April Chandler (Algonkian). It passed 6-3, with members Deana Griffiths (Ashburn), Lauren Shernoff (Leesburg), and Kari LaBell (Catoctin) opposed. There was no public discussion of the issue and the meeting was recessed to be continued at a later date following the vote…
