ASHBURN, Va. — As schools in Loudoun County start the academic year Thursday, one high school is also battling a pest infestation in its kitchen and cafeteria.
In an email sent to families Wednesday, Briar Woods High School Principal Sheila Alzate said that there would be some changes to school meals as the year starts because of the problem. While staff and contractors work to fix the infestation, breakfast and lunch will be prepared at another school off-site. Then, the brown bagged meals will be brought to the school for distribution Thursday.
If the problem persists, the Ashburn high school may do the same thing on Friday, Alzate said. If that is the case, another email will be sent to families…
