COLLEGE PARK, Md. — A man was arrested Thursday morning after a crash during a traffic stop that trapped a state trooper between the stopped car and the trooper car, Maryland State Police said.
The state trooper that conducted the traffic stop originally stopped a blue Lincoln on the inner loop of I-495 near Route 1. During the stop, a second trooper parked directly behind the first trooper’s vehicle. Both cars had their emergency lights on.
The first officer was standing behind the Lincoln when a silver Dodge Charger hit the rear end of the second trooper’s vehicle. This set the second trooper’s car to crash into the back of the first trooper’s car and send the first trooper’s car into the back of the Lincoln.
