‘We kind of knew everything was going to change’: Kennedy Center cuts ties with long-time medallion maker

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) – After nearly half a century of making the iconic medallions for the Kennedy Center Honors, the work of craftsman James Baturin and his family has come to an end as the Trump administration decided to shift away from the signature rainbow-and-gold medallions.

“It’s an honor for me to have been involved in this for 47 years,” Baturin told DC News Now. “It’s just an honor.”
