MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A homicide investigation is underway in Montgomery County after a woman was fatally shot in a Gaithersburg neighborhood overnight.
At around 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 31, officers and medics responded to the 9000 block of Centerway Road for the report of gunshots heard in the area, according to Montgomery County police.

At the scene, police found a woman dead. Authorities transported her to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore, where officials will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of her death.
