BERLIN, Md. – A special ribbon-cutting in Berlin Tuesday, the Maryland State Police opened a new police barracks. They expect this will take policing to the next level on the Eastern Shore.
Maryland Lt. Governor Aruna Miller spoke at the event, and she said the space is filled with amenities. “We’ve got a 24,000 square foot facility. A state-of-the-art forensic laboratory, a garage, and all the latest technology available. This is needed for the men and women of Maryland State Police.”
The barracks will include classrooms, polygraph offices, fitness rooms, and enhanced forensic sciences crime lab. According to MSP’s Director of the Forensic Science Division, Daniel Katz, the upgrades were much needed. “The old Berlin lab only offered one type of testing,” said Katz. “We were able to add additional forensic disciplines, latent print lab prints here, as well as toxicology, and a crime scene office.”…
