Lucketts Residents Air Concerns About Rt. 15 Widening, Bypass Plans

More than 100 people gathered at the Lucketts Community Center on Wednesday night for a community workshop examining the county government’s plans to widen Rt. 15 and build a bypass around the village.

Starting next year and continuing over the next decade, the county plans a $220 million multi-phase project to widen Rt. 15 to four lanes between Battlefield Parkway in Leesburg and Montresor Road north of Lucketts.

The plans, debated for many years, remains controversial and the Sept. 10 LuckettsVoice Workshop was designed to give residents a new forum to discuss their concerns, building on a community survey that was conducted over the summer. That survey highlighted concerns about congestion, safety, and truck traffic along with worries about how to preserve the rural character of the community…
