Governor Wes Moore Announces 2026 Reelection Bid

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland’s Governor Wes Moore[D] officially announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9, that he will seek reelection in 2026.

Moore announced his reelection campaign via a YouTube video on his new channel. Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller remains on the ticket.

“We are moving forward fast across the state and across party lines to prove to a dysfunctional Washington that there is a better way forward. To make our public schools the best in America. To end childhood poverty once and for all. And to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home here, and create wealth for their families, and live that secure middle-class life,” Moore said in the video.

The announcement comes amid some speculation that Moore would seek a presidential nomination in 2028. Moore has been vocal about his opposition to the Trump administration’s plans to add federal troops to Baltimore and has voiced his disagreement with the firing of federal workers…
