LEESBURG, Va. (DC News Now) — Leesburg police said an arrest was made after an infant was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Wednesday.
The Leesburg Police Department said officers responded to the unit block of Hancock Place just after 10 a.m. after receiving reports of an infant who was not breathing.

The infant was taken to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Detectives later determined that the infant had been assaulted via strangulation.
The suspect had run away before officers arrived, but with the help of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Alvaro Mejia Ayala was arrested at around 3:20 p.m. in the 100 block of Meadows Lane. He has been charged with strangulation…
