The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the 7-Eleven in the 8100 block of Fenton Street in Silver Spring.
Detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect, described as a Black male between 17 and 25 years old, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
According to MCPD, “The investigation has revealed that at approximately 9:05 p.m. the suspect entered the 7-Eleven and attempted to purchase two cigars. The clerk refused the transaction because the suspect did not provide proper identification. The suspect then loitered inside the store and waited for other customers to leave before walking behind the counter to approach the clerk. He reached into his waistband, implying he had a weapon and attempted to steal merchandise. The clerk reported seeing the handle of a handgun in the suspect’s waistband…
