Fairfax prosecutor cited for drinking in public has charges dropped; bosses stay mum

CENTREVILLE, Va. (7News) — The Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office continued to offer no further comment on the case of their Senior Assistant, Eric Clingan, who was cited for drinking in public on August 8, while on his way into work.

Clingan, 57, was served with a summons for drinking an alcoholic beverage in public, a Class 4 misdemeanor, and released after the incident in early August. His case in Fairfax County General District Court was dismissed on Oct. 10.

In a statement to 7News on Tuesday, a Fairfax County Police spokesperson said, “Our understanding is that Mr. Clingan successfully completed requirements through the courts to have the case dismissed.”…
