The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this year in Northeast DC. The arrest occurred in Germantown, according to MPD.
According to police, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at approximately 11:01am, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 3300 block of 15th Street NE following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female inside a residence, unconscious but still breathing, with multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, where despite all lifesaving efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Mignon Brown-Massey of Northeast DC. MPD shared that following an extensive investigation, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 32-year-old Darryn Bynum Jr. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Germantown, Maryland.
