Troopers Issue 4,400 Citations, 90 DUI Arrests During Halloween Patrols

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Maryland State Police troopers made 90 arrests for suspected drunken driving and issued more than 4,400 citations and warnings during enhanced patrols over the Halloween weekend, Oct. 31–Nov. 2, 2025.

The statewide operation focused on high-visibility enforcement along major corridors and in areas with heavy holiday traffic. Troopers increased patrols and conducted targeted traffic stops aimed at removing impaired drivers and addressing dangerous driving behaviors.

The State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Effort, known as SPIDRE, recorded nine of the DUI arrests over the weekend, according to the agency. SPIDRE’s year-to-date DUI arrest total stands at 295, and the specialized team has recorded 5,150 DUI arrests since its inception…
