A minimum wage of $25 an hour in Maryland could be put to a vote in 2026

A group is pushing to put a $25 minimum wage initiative on Maryland’s 2026 ballot, if passed it would give the state the highest minimum wage in the country.

One Fair Wage is leading the effort to raise Maryland’s minimum wage to $25 an hour with no exceptions. If successful, Maryland would surpass Washington D.C.’s current minimum pay rate of $17.95 an hour.
