LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Neighbors in one Lansdowne, Va., community are collecting donations for a family who lost their home and all of their possessions from a massive fire last week, which was sparked by a lithium-ion battery pack from a remote-control toy car.
Just a few doors down from the charred wreckage of the home on Kipheart Drive, Andrea Vaccarelli Landis and Becki Pisciotta sifted through bins of donated clothes and gift cards.
“Our neighbors have lost everything. We had so many people reaching out, driving by, reaching out to us asking how they can help. We just wanted to organize a central location to be able to give that support they wanted to, so we put bins outside, collecting gift cards and collecting clothes. They have nothing,” Vaccarelli Landis said. “Is there anything else we can do and be there, like a shoulder of support. There’s a lot of people talking to them. It’s quite overwhelming to have to watch them stand there and watch their house burn. It’s just awful…
