Governor Wes Moore announced that applications are now open in eight Maryland jurisdictions for the Community Schools Rental Assistance Program, which provides emergency housing support to families with students enrolled in Community Schools who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
The program can cover past-due rent, utilities, moving costs, and deposits for up to 15 months, with more than 1,300 applications already submitted and over 400 households receiving assistance so far.
