New Jersey retired seniors receiving Social Security will see the largest nominal-dollar increases in their benefits out of the entire country next year.
In October, the Social Security Administration announced the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase for 2026, which determines the amount the average benefits check will go up by.
Starting in January, 75 million Americans receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income will see a boost of 2.8%, which is an addition of about $56 per month to account for inflation.
