The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is honoring Rosa Parks throughout December by emphasizing transit equity and placing commemorative messages across its Ride On bus fleet, recognizing her role in sparking the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Parks’ refusal to give up her seat led to a yearlong protest that ended with the Supreme Court striking down bus segregation and made her a national symbol of the fight against racial discrimination.
