Maryland adds 200 private sector jobs in September as federal employment decline continues

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Maryland eked out modest private sector job growth in September 2025, adding an estimated 200 positions even as the state continued to experience sizable federal employment losses, according to new data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Revised figures also show that August’s private sector performance was stronger than initially reported. The earlier estimate of a 2,000 job decline was adjusted to a smaller loss of 1,300 jobs.
