According to new data from Payless Power, Connecticut has the nation’s most expensive December electric bill at an average of $228.55. Maryland ($205.22), Virginia ($180.36), Massachusetts ($180.00), and Pennsylvania ($167.81) were also among the study’s top 10 for high costs.
Some states see dramatic spikes as more people plug in Christmas lights and heat their homes. Maryland’s electric bills increase 48.2% from November to December, second only to Delaware (48.7%) for the biggest average monthly jump.
