Moore announces $10M to help open child care, grocery businesses in high-need communities

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md (7News) — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced Wednesday the creation of a website that aims to give entrepreneurs information and access to funding to start businesses to address critical shortages of fresh food and child care in high-need communities.

Along with the website, Moore announced that $10 million is being made available to help fresh food retailers and child care providers.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities,” Moore said. “And if Maryland is going to grow, we have to uplift the aspirations of entrepreneurs from every zip code. That’s why we’re putting more powerful tools and resources into the hands of entrepreneurs and small business owners, building more pathways to work, wages, and wealth for themselves and their communities.”…
