Monks on ‘Walk for Peace’ reach Atlanta area. What’s their route?

A group of Buddhist monks on a journey from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C. on a self-described “Walk for Peace” have reached the Atlanta metro area.

The voyage will take the monks 2,300 miles to “raise awareness of peace, loving kindness, and compassion across America and the world,” according to the group. The walk is estimated to take 120 days.

The monks are now 64 days into the walk, and they spent the night of Dec. 28 in Sharpsburg, Georgia, just outside Peachtree City.

“(Dec. 29) we continue our journey through Georgia, heading from Sharpsburg through Peachtree City to Fayatteville and Morrow in the Atlanta area,” according to the group’s Facebook page. “We are grateful for the continued support and warm welcome we receive along the way.”
